We cannot live in the RAGE place.

James Baldwin said to be a negro in this country and to be relatively conscious is to be in a rage almost all the time.

This not only applies to black people in this country but it applies to every single person or group of people who are standing for justice.

I wake up in the morning in a love zone. I get my kids off to school, spend some time with myself, shower, lavish my skin with Lily Rose goodness and I either sink into to my home office or head to one of my clients offices at my sole discretion.

I am feeling good, I smell good, I have kissed and hugged the MOST important people to me and I am living life on my terms. Shortly thereafter, I am reminded of an injustice and something takes me from zero to a hundred and ten in five seconds.

I am working, dealing, writing, listening, speaking, mentoring and changing (and the occasional school lunch stop) all while engaged in some form of battle that is warring against free thought, deed and or being.

I literally have a sword in one hand and an olive branch in the other. It is quite the dichotomy. A sword to behead racism and misogyny every chance that I get and an olive branch for those who want to cross over.

My baby girl reminds me of the precious innocence and awe of life. Either in the morning when we are having our “cuddle wuddle” time or at bedtime as we are enjoying a cup of tea or a scoop of ice cream together. She is my beautiful reminder to spend as much time as possible in my love spot, love zone or me cave.

My other baby keeps me smiling and my son is always present with his joyful noise but my soul does not rest for long.

Warriors, we must know when to surrender to our joy and our love. I know it feels guilty to celebrate when someone else is suffering. Someone is always suffering…we cannot let that overwhelm us or hinder us from enjoying the life we have created.
